number of student/athletes that will best allow our coaching staff to most
effectively work with their team. Cuts
are possible depending on the number of girls participating in the program.
Once initial selections have been made, a student/athlete may be moved from one
level to another due to player’s injury or region call up.
The following criteria will be used for team selection:

·
Scoring/rating system will be used for team selection
Resolving
Conflict
The following was taken from the brochure
entitled "Rosemount High School Athletics: Building Partnerships and
Expectations for Student and Program Success" developed by the RHS
athletic director. This procedure will be followed to resolve any and all
conflicts at any level.
"As in any competitive program
with high expectation, conflicts are inevitable. The athletic director and
coaches are committed to facilitating the following process to provide
parameters for successful resolution of issues.
Conflicts should (first attempt) be
resolved between student and coach. Parents are welcome to provide support for
the student through conversations with the coach after the initial player-coach
discussion
Meetings should be held in a
professional setting in the school building during school/professional time.
Calls should be directed to school
phone numbers. Calls will be answered by coaches in a timely fashion.
If emotions rise to an unreasonable
level during the meeting, it will be concluded and rescheduled.
It is inappropriate to approach a coach
unscheduled, immediately prior to, during, or at the conclusion of a contest.
If after a good faith attempt to
discuss a situation or resolve an issue does not attain reasonable
satisfaction, the conflict will be referred to the athletic director.
It is our goal at
Communication
We feel it is extremely important for athletes
and coaches to work together. When things are going well, positive
communication usually happens easily. However, no team ever makes their way
through a season without distractions, setbacks, and disappointments. These
events are obstacles to overcome, and this is what becoming a team is all
about. If you as an athlete have a concern or gripe, do not let it sit. At an
appropriate time, talk to a captain or your coach. Again, do not let a
situation eat at you and cause you to develop negative feelings toward another
player, coach, the team, or the program. Also, do not allow your teammates to
do so. Tell them to talk it out with the people involved. Demonstrate maturity
and responsibility when dealing with others.
Behavior Expectations
You, as a member of the Rosemount Irish Soccer
team are expected to:
Do your best in class and be in attendance
every day.
Adhere to all school and State High School
League rules and policies.
Be on time (Early!). Be responsible to
know all practice, weight lifting, game and meeting times.
Be at all practices and games unless specifically
pre-excused by the coach in person. Work, senior pictures and other
non-emergencies are always unexcused. In case of an emergency or illness, call
the school (423-7501) and leave a message for your coach.
Be at practice at 2:35. Players are to
stay at practice for the duration.
Use appropriate language at all times.
Do your best every time you step on the
field, in practice or in a game.
Show respect for your teammates, coaches,
cheerleaders, opposing players, and referees.
Inform the coach of all injuries. Your
coach may refer you to the athletic trainer.
Respect the school. Cleats are not to be
worn indoors. Soccer balls are carried indoors.
Proper equipment must be worn at all
times. Bring your soccer ball, shin guards, running shoes, cleats, and water
jug every day.
Maintain all gear. Game gear is to be worn
for games only.
Turn in all gear to your coach immediately
following the conclusion of your season. Then, and only then, will you receive
your eligibility card back and be allowed to start another sports season.
Keep the locker room clean and free of
clutter. Put trash in its place. Make certain that you have a lock and use it
at all times. Horseplay and foul language will not be tolerated.
Consequences of not meeting our
expectations will result in forfeiture of playing time and could lead to your
dismissal from the team. You represent a successful Irish Soccer program. Show
that you are an important part of our program, on and off the field. Have a
great season:-)
Lettering Policy
Varsity Level:
A student/athlete may earn a Varsity letter if she:
Junior Varsity, B-Team,
and Freshmen: A student/athlete at
these levels will receive special participation certificates if they have met
expectations set forth by our coaching staff and the Minnesota State High
School League.
Extra Notes
Booster Club will need assistance throughout the
year. I ask that you please help when you can. You never know, some day you may
be in their shoes and may be asking for help. They have a tough job of
organizing many different events, they could use everyone's help from the
freshmen level all the way to the varsity.
Thank you:-)
I strongly believe the contracts the kids
and the parents sign serve a purpose. The signature promises me, the school,
the team, and the parents that the players won't abuse chemicals and will
follow rules of the school and the Minnesota State High School League. I will take additional time to address this
issue because it so very important to avoid this types of problems.
If anyone has any questions,
comments, or suggestions throughout the year please feel free to call me at my
number below. I am eager to do the very best I can to help this program move
forward to learn and to share my experience with you. - I think we are going to
have some fun.
